Master of the Iron Claw

Bulba scrambles Kerry's brains.

Bulba scrambles Kerry’s brains.

I was surfing on YouTube recently and came upon the video of this violent and exciting battle between Kerry von Erich and a foreign invader named Taurus Bulba.   The thick-bodied (and thick-skulled) Mongolian is being presented as a powerful force — more than our pretty-boy Kerry can handle.

Oh no -- none of Kerry's moves are working against this creature!

Oh no — none of Kerry’s moves are working against this creature!

Here Kerry attempts his Tornado Elbow Smash, but Bulba easily blocks it, then drills the stud in the face and knocks him on his ass.

The fans are growing frustrated as their hero is foiled at every turn, and I’m loving it.  Bulba is awesome.  Finally we get to see a von Erich in trouble and suffering with no easy victory!

Another series of Head Butts from the thick-skulled Mongolian!

Another series of Head Butts from the hard-headed Mongolian!

I love these brutal Head Butts — the cheater gripping Kerry by the hair and relentlessly bashing bone into bone.  Kerry is dazed by these skull smashers, now dizzy and helpless.

We will see later why Bulba has focused on weakening Kerry’s forehead.  He’s softening that skull to make his finishing hold more effective…

kerry-Teras8kerry-Teras11The audience goes crazy and the commentators are practically orgasmic when Bulba slaps on an Iron Claw of his own.

I don’t believe this!  Is that some sort of Mongolian Claw?!?   The Master of the Iron Claw is being punished in an Iron Claw himself!!!

Kerry is growing weaker and weaker!  He is struggling to get to his feet.  Von Erich is unable to break free from the pressure being applied by Bulba in this Iron Claw type hold!”  (Great stuff.)

I thought only the Von Erichs had the right to use this deadly hold.

I thought only the Von Erichs had the right to use this deadly hold.

I’m not sure why they degraded Kerry like this — showing him beaten by his own trademark hold.  It’s an insult to his father and his family.  I suppose they’re trying to put Bulba over — making him seem as powerful as a Von Erich.  Whatever the reason, it’s also a fairly erotic scene — Kerry paralyzed and helpless, suffering the same painful degradation he inflicted on countless other men.

Kerry is busted open from the pressure of that Iron Claw!

Kerry is busted open from the pressure of that Iron Claw!

The Iron Claw continues for a nice long while, with Kerry growing weaker and dropping to his knees in surrender.  What a good muscle-jobber he was in this match, wearing those pretty white trunks & boots while selling his agony and helplessness so erotically.

Kerry even bleeds for us, which really promotes Bulba’s claw as dangerous and effective.

kerry-Teras14Kerry eventually passes out from the agony, utterly defeated by this Mongolian and his deadly Iron Claw.  I thought they might allow him to break free, or maybe have one of his brothers rescue him, but nope — Kerry is completely jobbed out and humiliated.

A doctor has to bandage his wound while other wrestlers grope his defenseless body.

I’m not sure what Eric Embry is doing here — laying on Kerry and patting his chest and nipple.  It seems as if, now that Kerry has been beaten down and degraded, any man has the right to touch him wherever he wants.  Kerry lays obediently on his back as the men bandage and baby him.

It was rare for one of the exalted Von Erich brothers to actually suffer a defeat, let alone a humiliation, which makes this embarrassing loss inflicted by a fat ugly foreigner seem even more special.

Another nice thing about this match is that Kerry’s trunks fit well. Sometimes they sag looking like he bought as size too large for him, which, considering his physique, must have been difficult to find.

This is great. It’s terrific to see Kerry really get brought down and put an opponent over in a meaningful way.

It’s an important part of being a star, but you’re right that it never seemed to happen for a Von Erich. At least while I was watching. Admittedly, I was bored by the Von Erichs, especially Kevin, despite their obvious physical appeal, so I’m not an expert. More stuff like this might’ve raised my interest.
