When a Heel Is the Champ

I recently wrote about Underground Championship Wrestling and their presentation of a gold belt to the most dominant wrestler (currently Zach Reno who suffers endless abuse defending his title.)

The 88 Wrestling video website also awards a Championship Belt known as the King of the Ring title — which has been Rex Bedford for a long time. But instead playing a heroic Baby-Face Champ, Rex portrays himself as aggressive, brutal, and willing to destroy any man who tries to remove that belt from his lean waist.

I recently downloaded the video of Rex Bedford working over the spectacular but out-matched Dash Decker.

My only complaint about 88 Wrestling‘s videos — really everybody’s complaint — had been the square-cut shorts worn by the models. Well this has definitely been remedied in recent months! All praise to Rex and Dash for bravely wearing skimpy little briefs in their latest match — a huge wardrobe improvement in this wrestle-perv’s opinion!

I’m actually late in reviewing this match. Somehow I missed it when it was released over a year ago (maybe I was trying to save money or something at the time).

The Cave wrestling blog wrote about Rex’s domination over Dash Decker back in January 2020. And Ringside at Skull Island reviewed this match back in December 2019! Be sure to check out both of their reviews for a lot more hot images and some differing opinions about what makes this match so appealing.

There is some back-and-forth action in the match — it’s not as one-sided in favor of the Champ as I make it appear in these images. However, in general (and as The Cave blogger explains very well), Rex kicks Dash’s ass pretty good and makes him suffer (beautifully) for most of the match.

They’re fighting a Best of Three Falls bout. To win the first Fall, Rex wrenches a submission out of Dash with this painful-looking Angel-Wing Neck Breaker that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy:

Then the King of the Ring strikes this stunning Kneel On The Loser Victory Pose which made me absolutely lose it the first time I watched this video. Poor Dash is so utterly wasted and destroyed…

Dash is so good-looking and big, yet so willing to play up this defeat and submissiveness — to put Rex over as this Unbeatable Force of wrestling dominance by laying there broken on the mat. It’s a hot look.

And Rex performed the exact same Domination Pose over ragdoll Dash the last time they wrestled which makes it even hotter — that Rex keeps degrading and disgracing Dash every time they face off.

Ding! Ding!! Round Two…

I’m writing this article to make it appear as if Dash took control, and maintained control, at the beginning of the Second Fall. Actually his offense was scattered throughout the match.

Whereas I would normally post images of Dash’s abuse and suffering only, he looks so darn yummy applying these classic pro wrestling moves. I like how he smiles with such enjoyment and enthusiasm when he successfully stuns Rex. (If you haven’t noticed, I’m kind of man-crushing on Dash Decker right now.)

But the main attraction — the reason I got off on this match — was ultimately the defeat and destruction of Dash Decker by the more skilled and more ruthless King of the Ring…

Way back in 2015, The Cave blogger actually foreshadowed this Fall From Grace for the former Alpha Male, Dash Decker. He described what pleasure he derived from Dash’s few moments of suffering — even editing his one-sided Dash Domination videos to turn them into a squashes inflicted on the “unstoppable uber-heel.”

He wrote:

I’m finding it hotter to see him being abused. Dash suffers really well and there’s more meaning to it. Dash dominating is cool, but Dash suffering is special.

Ironically, it’s his invincibility that makes his vulnerability so amazing.

So we feel compassion for poor Dash because he can’t win, because he is feeling so much pain and humiliation (and because he’s so damn hunky.)

And we kind of hate the ruthless Heel Champ, who can’t be beaten, who won’t stop until he’s destroyed our Hero. It’s a boner-inspiring kind of hate — a Lust-Hate Relationship — that we experience when a Heel is the Champ.

It’s like when Ric Flair was Champ — so boastful and arrogant. So flamboyant and grand in his gorgeous kimonos, that shiny gold belt always around his waist proclaiming his superiority.

You wanted the cocky fucker to be taken down a peg, to be taught some humility. Yet it was also a wonderful experience when Naitch would slap on the old Figure Four and force your handsome Magnum TA or Brad Armstrong or Kerry von Erich to tap out. This is how it feels to see Rex Bedford defeat yet another good-looking challenger, always ending up on top.

Arms outstretched in a pose of complete helplessness

Oh Rex. Come on over here and use ME as your kneeler.

Rex bested Dash Decker in Two Straight Falls! Then flexed over him, gold belt around his waist, in complete domination. Rex comes off seeming like a Stud who can never be beaten. And Dash comes off seeming like a Stud who may never win again. I love them both — Dash probably moreso.

Rex Bedford is the perfect heel champ. He convinces as the sadist and has the great body that I need to see in the champion. He’s got a great sleeper which immediately draws me to him and his kick to the skull seals the deal for me. Great gallery.

Yes, add me to the list of people who are frustrated by all the squarecuts in 88 Wrestling. I hardly pay attention to their releases because of the more conservative gear they frequently use. This video though, is one of the couple that I’ve bought from them, and it is definitely a hot one! Please 88 Wrestling, refresh that wardrobe closet with some more skimpy speedos!

Dash Decker is such an impressive performer for all the reasons you laid out. This match was a surprise in the best way, and I while Rex has clearly cemented his superiority over Dash, I hope we get to see the humbled stud attempt a comeback soon.

Thanks for covering this match. I haven’t seen this video but you make it look very tempting.
I agree, the guys look better in trunks and that 88W has the best victory poses.
