On Sissy Street

How to threaten the sexual identity of all the straight men in the audience.

This match, recently posted to YouTube, reveals what happens when a make-up wearing sissy gets his hands on an attractive, nearly nude cowboy.  Adrian Street with the blond pony-tails and swishy walk knew how to rile up the homo-phobic audience.  “Wildcat” Wendall Cooley is pacing eagerly around the ring, hitching up his white trunks so everyone can see he’s a man.

cooleyI never saw much of Wendall Cooley back in the late 1980’s when he was active.  But when I have seen him wrestle, I’ve enjoyed him.

Cooley played a straight cowboy, an icon of American bravery and heroism.  He wore small white trunks and tall white cowboy boots, and kept his body fit.  He also got his ass kicked pretty regular (see below) and sold his pain with drama and gusto.

Adrian Street fought with a vicious ruthlessness that soon turned the audience’s cat-calling mockery of him into cries of shock and outrage.  He attacks Cooley from behind (naturally) and proceeds to kick his ass outside the ring — bashing his face into metal objects and stomping him under foot.  We learn that these queers can be dangerous if they gain the upper hand.

street-cowboy3street-cowboy4As with any Sissy vs. Straight Dude match in pro wrestling, the danger for the powerless Straight Dude is that he may face sexual molestation (or at least some rude groping) at the hands of the queer.  This adds a tone of danger and potential rape to the scene.

Cooley is further degraded by receiving several rib-busting kicks from Adrian Street’s female valet.  So not only is Cooley defeated and punished by an effeminate male, but he is also bested by an actual female.  His embarrassed feelings of humiliation and sissification are exciting to ponder…

The cowboy has no defense.

The cowboy has zero defense (and we love him for that.)

Cowboy Cooley surprises us with how readily he accepts the submissive “bottom” role, allowing Street (and his bitch) to just own his muscular body.  As the embodiment of masculine power, shouldn’t the bearded cowboy be the dominant Alpha Male out-muscling the prancing sissy?

And for his part, Adrian Street always fought with a ruthless aggression that was shocking to behold.  It was as if he wanted to prove he WAS a real man by dominating whatever man-flesh was thrown in the ring with him.  Or perhaps he was enraged by the audience mockery of his appearance and his queer antics, so he was taking out his anger on his opponent’s body.  The more they laugh at Adrian, the more Cooley would suffer, and their laughter at Adrian isn’t going to stop any time soon.

"Wild Cat Cooley, who appeared to be a very strong competitor, is rapidly being destroyed!"

“Cooley rapidly being decimated!”

The commentator Gordon Solie adds to Cooley’s humiliation by describing his one-sided beatdown in graphic detail, using all the degrading adjectives:

Between to two of them, they intend to make short work of Wild Cat Wendall Cooley.”

Street after his man…  Catches him once again and Street is PUNISHING him.  Cooley in a world of hurt now!  Cooley has been battered and beaten outside the ring.  Smashed into the timekeeper’s table.”  (Schwing.)

Street had promised it wouldn't take long to "vanquish" the cowboy.

The men are fighting for Adrian Street’s championship belt, which Street had redesigned in a pink leather style.  After being dominated for about 80 percent of the match, Cooley eventually “mans up” and wins the match — and the belt.  He holds the pink belt proudly in his post-match interview, perhaps symbolizing that he’s learned a new lifestyle from Street.

Wow, I never saw Wendell or “Continental” as a kid but sure enjoy finding him. From the era when promoters knew they had to get a stud in tight trunks and half-cut torn tees to get the women into the arena and screaming. The guy who uploaded the video links to his list of uploads from 1986 and just a quick glance this morning shows two uploads (7/19/86 and 11/1/86) worth watching: Wendel in black versus a vicious heel male’s male: Dirty White Boy.
