Back Man, 1 of 2

Yesterday’s ringside photos from my chat buddy BRO reminded me of something personal I’ve been meaning to confess on here for a long time:  I like to see their backs.

You’re probably thinking I just want to check out their asses.  That’s not what I’m talking about here.  I mean that I enjoy the sight of a bare back — literally the expanse of flesh between the waistline and the shoulders.  There — I admitted another thing I secretly enjoy about pro wrestling.

I like seeing the large muscle groups of the upper back, the strong cords around the neck, wide wide wide delts, and the graceful curve of the spine.  I love the symmetry, both halves neatly divided by the line of the spine.  I love that deep valley that begins up between his shoulder blades and gets deeper as it plunges down into his trunks.  And I just dig the sight of the back — the pure nakedness of it — when a wrestler’s body is twisted in suffering.  To me, a naked back is aesthetically pleasing as well as a big turn-on.

Everybody is into certain body parts which attract them to other people:  some appreciate a well formed chest, or shapely legs, or a cute smile, or even a nice curvy foot.   I guess I am a Back Man and I have been for a long time.  Even my earliest memories of watching pro wrestling involved seeing the stark, smooth expanse of the wrestlers’ backs, the flesh gleaming under the bright studio lights, and me thinking:  “Oh good — their shirts are off so I can see their backs.

You don’t often hear anyone say that they’re into backs, that they’re a Back Man.  So I am wondering if maybe its a pro wrestling thing.  Maybe the emphasis on the exposed male body in pro wrestling, and the frequent attacks directed at the back area, call our attention to this normally overlooked region while also fetishizing it.

Some wrestlers draw even more attention to their back by arching their hips up or twisting their spine after being slammed.  Maybe they want us to think “Wow, that really must have hurt,” but all I can think is “Wow, that was really hot.

It is not easy to explain why I am attracted to backs, but it has something to do with the mix of powerful and fragile.  The back is fortified with those massive, thick, rippling muscles and sinew that bind the neck to the shoulders to the spine.  People may gush over a bulging bicep, but most of a man’s power is actually found in his back.

But at the same time, a shirtless back seems  vulnerable.  That curvy spine looks so fragile.  And a man’s flesh is usually covered in clothing, so when it’s exposed to the elements, we are a bit shocked by just how helpless a naked man appears.  Any sharp objects or blunt objects or icy cold water could really punish the man if it contacts his bare back.  What if somebody whipped that bare back like a beast of burden?

So the cocky wrestler gets in the ring with his  back boldly exposed, as if to say: “I am so tough, I don’t need a shirt to protect me!”  But lo and behold, his opponent will attack that naked back and soon the stud is clutching his spine in agony.  He is forced to admit his body was not as invincible as he pretended.  And the next week, the fool shows up again with no shirt and I love him for that.

So here are some images of bare backs that caught my eye for their curviness, symmetry, or muscularity.  You can see that either tan or pale works for me, and I like them dry as well as glistening in sweat.  If you asked me why I selected these particular backs for this gallery, I would be unable to exactly define the qualities that caught my eye.  I guess a hot back is like pornography — I just know it when I see it.

Thank you for such an insightful post! I share your feelings about the delight of watching a pro wrestler’s back: the sheer manliness of it, as his strength and muscle ripples down and is bordered by his shiny trunks.

I do agree. Backs can be very sexy. The breadth, the v shape and the muscularity. Even guys who are not especially well defined otherwise, seem to have shapely backs.

The post was done very nicely, but perhaps you should follow up with the logical: doing a spot devoted to back work in match. On that focus, I really am a back man.
