My New Favorite Heel, 1 of 3

I recently saw this impressive wrestling match on YouTube featuring the bad boy in the black t-shirt — “Lonesome” Jay Bradley — crushing his baby-face opponent, Robert “The Ego” Anthony.  Bradley really put on a lesson in how to be a great Heel in this match, using every dirty tactic and Dick Move to really make us love to hate him.

He struts into the arena wearing a black “Drink Fight Fuck” shirt so we know exactly what he enjoys doing.  Black is the preferred color of the ruthless, evil Heel, and it ensures we know right from the start who the villain will be.  He then sneak-attacks his young opponent wearing the fancy, colorful tights to start the contest with a bang.  Bradley then delivers for us a textbook “Squash-the-Jobber” match, doing everything that a great Heel does.

A Great Heel Lets the Baby-Face Shine. Jay Bradley allows Robert “The Ego” Anthony to put him in an embarrassing long-held Headlock, giving the fans a good look at the baby-face’s hard body and bulging biceps.  He knows this hold will force us to love the baby-face.

Soon everyone begins to chant “Ego!  Ego!”  and Bradley knows he has the crowd right where he wants them.  Time to start punishing this punk…

A Great Heel Works One Body-Part. Bradley focuses his assault on his victim’s rib-cage, which is one of the best body-parts to attack because the suffering is so excruciating and dramatic.  The baby-face does a good job selling Bradley’s punishment, curling up and hugging his ribs like they’re cracked, laying helplessly at the feet of the stronger man, scrunching up his face like he’s getting ready to cry.

Resistance Pro Wrestling is the federation that promoted this event.  It’s the Indy fed started by Smashing Pumpkins singer Billy Corgan.  The more I see of Resistance, the more I love it — THANKS Billy Corgan!

A Great Heel is Vicious and Ignores the Rules. Oh man, the coolest, cruelest move ever seen — the stuff my childhood wrasslin’ fantasies were made of!   Jay Bradley holds his opponent overhead in a Gorilla Press, building suspense by displaying him to the audience — like, “Just watch what I’m about to do to this poor guy!”   And then Bradley FUCKING TOSSES ANTHONY OUT OF THE RING AND SLAMS HIM AGAINST THE EDGE OF THE BALCONY!!   OUCH!

The victim lays broken on the floor as Bradley points up into the audience. It seems the owner, Billy Corgan, is in the balcony, and Jay Bradley has some love-hate, disgruntled employee vibe happening with his boss.  Corgan apparently wants the beloved fan favorite  to win this match, and Bradley basically just said “Fuck You!” to the boss by breaking his poor hero right before his eyes — right against the balcony where Corgan is seated.

Bradley then takes the fight out the the floor, slamming “The Ego” into every hard surface around the ring and in the bar area.  I’m sure the shocked crowd was excited to see the action spill out around them.

A Great Heel Knows How to Hurt a Man. Bradley slaps on a gorgeous Abdominal Stretch — great camera work as we’re brought inside the ring for a closer look.  I think skinny, hard-body guys are the best victims to see in an Ab Stretch, and Anthony is no exception.  Bradley increases the pain by slamming his elbow into the poor, twisted kid’s ribcage.  NICE!

A Great Heel Works the Crowd. Bradley struts around, getting all cocky with the audience, standing over the suffering Baby-Face with his ass-kicking black boots near the poor kid’s body.  Bradley just looks like a mean guy, all scowling as he sizes everyone up, unfriendly bully, and thinking he is entitled because he can kick your ass.  He is savoring his dominance, while also giving us plenty of time to observe the victim all broken and twitching, slowly milking our pity and compassion for the helpless little injured bird.  I am digging this Jay Bradley — where can I buy a DVD with all his matches on them?

By the way, this Resistance Pro federation puts on an impressive show.  The wrestling is top notch, the camera work and video quality are excellent High-Def, the ring psychology is turning me on.  It’s good stuff, check it out.

A Great Heel Gives Us Hope Spots. A “Hope Spot” is when the suffering Baby-Face fights back for a moment, gaining a temporary advantage and possibly even pinning the Heel for a count of two.

Jay Bradley allows himself to be rolled up in some humiliating ass-in-the-air pinning positions, but he kicks out and re-asserts his dominance and control after each pinfall attempt.

A Great Heel is Relentless. A body-scissor, really?!?  I think I love you, Jay Bradley.

Mmm, yeah, crush him between those thick legs.   Just lay there all afternoon and evening, stifling his hopes and dreams by cranking on the pressure each time he tries to break free.

A Great Heel Has a Deadly Finisher. Jay Bradley’s killer move is called the “Boomstick Lariat”.  The commentator keeps calling it a “Broom-stick Lariat” but I think it’s actually Boomstick.  A sawed off shotgun is called a “Boomstick” (and probably so is a big cock.)

Having a deadly move that nobody can survive gives a Heel power and makes us fear him.  We sit watching in suspense, worried about the poor victim who will have no protection from this devastating maneuver.  Sure enough, the Heel inevitably unleashes his patented move and utterly wastes his victim yet again.

Can I just say that I love YouTube, I love watching Resistance Pro Wrestling, I love when Jay Bradley is dominating and hurting his opponents.  What a great time to be a wrestling fan…

Just the fact, this guy introduced not one, but many OLD SCHOOL Heel tactics during the course of his onslaught against Anthony, makes me want to see more of him. An OLD SCHOOL HEEL ???? Take a LOOK at this guy Mr. McMahon !! Memories of Vince Sr.’s day. YES? ( Not the crap U call Pro Wrestling ) A dizzy Bimbette SKIPPING to the ring with Dolph ( shoot me NOW!) or a Loud mouth Overly Made-up–Over the Hill Bimbo yelling “EXCUSE ME” during the course of such a poorly scripted TV show?
GIVE ME THIS KINDA GUY, Thick-Goodlooking and with the TRUE PERSONNA of what MAKES a HEEL!! THIS is what Pro Wrestling is and SHOULD BE !! OPEN your eyes Vince Jr. !!

Great post, Arsenal … I’m ready to watch this match now!

Recently viewed Resistance Pro’s “Just A Game” event on dvd … Jay Bradley and Robert Anthony were in that event, (separate matches) but that was my first Resistance Pro disc and I came away as impressed as you by the talent and camerawork… Both Bradley and Anthony were great in their matches… hard-hitting and sexy as hell.

The commentators during the Bradley match mentioned he had a brief stint in WWE … so glad he’s gone from there…
