Davey Richards recently provided a training class for young wrestlers in England. (Where the hell can I sign up for that??) Anyway, when they posted the notes from the training, I noticed one of Davey’s instructions to the class was “Show your face.”
This is a great lesson for young wrestlers to learn — I’m glad to know Davey is teaching them right. For many wrestling fans, those sublime expressions are so critical to the enjoyment of the match. To check out the images of Davey’s session, visit the Tony Knox flickr site (but just to warn you, these images will make you feel envious of those lucky trainees as Davey cradles and controls them…)
So here are some images of pro wrestlers who heeded the words of their trainers and remembered to Give Good Face. Check out those gritted teeth, those tear-filled eyes, those expressions of helpless submission. And a good Heel will remember to show his face as well, baring his teeth and offering up that angry, destructive, hungry expression of devouring domination.
Am I the only wrestling fan who pauses the video in order to stare at the faces?
