Vintage Pile Drivers

Here are some classic pro brawlers wrestling in traditional trunks and boots.  The bad boy in all black gear has suspended the good boy in all white in Pile Driver Position.  Next he'll drop the pretty boy on his head.

This villain in long black tights is floating in mid-air, already beginning his fall down to the mat.  The chubby dude in all white gear is about to have his head jammed up inside his neck.

The Japanese fans loving seeing this cocky blond American, Tommy Rich, getting beaten and injured by their hero, Jumbo Tsuruto.  They hope that Jumbo will Pile Drive this kid 3 or 4 more times to really hurt him.

This Japanese wrestler screams in fear, crying for mercy as he is raised into that frightening inverted position.  How do you say "Please don't spike my head into the floor" in Japanese?

Check out the cruel expression on this wrestler's face as he hoists he hairy chested opponent up in an inverted bearhug.  The victim stares in horror down at the mat he is about to kiss.

Another hairy real man is about to be over-powered by his opponent, Jerry Lawler, thanks to the power of the Pile Driver.

Wow, I wonder who Greg Valentine's ripped opponent is in the white gear??  Whoever he is, he is about to be disabled by the Hammer's deadly Pile Driver.

Dick Murdock is tightly hugging some black dude in striped trunks, while gripping the guy's head between his thighs.  Next he'll plant the poor guy head first into the canvas.

Where exactly is this veteran wrestler gripping his young opponent to hold him in that position?  I think the victim is being fondled and Pile Driven at the same time.

Fat Harley Race is about to destroy muscle man Billy Graham with a Pile Driver.  This will make Race the king of both the NWA and the WWWF.

Race must be in a sadistic mood, because now he has Graham in position for another Pile Driver.  Only the most vicious wrestlers Pile Drive their opponents more than once!

Billy Red Cloud is trying to minimize the damage from Nick Bockwinkle's Pile Driver by gripping his knees.

Here is the master of the Pile Driver himself, Paul Orndorff, holding yet another jobber upside down to let the blood rush to the dude's head before driving him into the mat.

Is this veteran brawler really going to spike his victim's head on that hard floor?  This is too vicious, he better release the poor guy!

"PILE DRIVER"

"Preparing for the 'pile driver, Glen Wade requires to imprison his opponent's arms in the body grip and then to drive the head and shoulders forcibly into the mat.  He did so, for this is the beginning of the move which gained the first fall in the match against Fozgren."
