Modern Marvels
In the early 90's, Marvel Comics teamed up with WCW to create about
a dozen action-packed Wrestling comic books. This was a great marriage
to get the dudes with a Marvel Super-hero fetish hooked on Rasslin' as well.
The first issue from April 1992 began with a violent Battle Royal to catch
the readers' attention.
Johnny B. Badd is treated as a flamboyant
villain in this comic book, kicking poor Flyin' Bryan out of the ring
like a sissy. Bryan flies into the crowd wearing only his tiger-striped
briefs. The fans are outraged!
Soon most of the chumps are thrown
from the ring, but the WCW promoters must have been pushing Ron Simmons
and Sting at this time, because they are the last two heroes in the ring,
fighting for their lives.
The two remaining
villains, the Studd and Johnny B. Badd, are having their way with poor
Simmons. They are slamming their elbows and boots into his exposed
body.
These WCW comics were interesting
because they featured the erotic aspects of Pro Wrestling, such as two
bad boys stomping the heroes without mercy, while trash-talking and admitting
they enjoy humiliating other men.
Now it's time for some hot two-against-one
punishment as the Studd traps Simmons in a Full Nelson so feminine Johnny
B. Badd can kick him in the gut. I'll bet the fans wore out this
page of the comic book!
Check out the
sexual pleasure on Badd's face as he punishes his helpless, suffering
victim. The artist really did a great job showing the agony and ecstasy,
which will make sure the readers will continue buying the remaining issues
of this hot comic book series.
Finally, big
Ron Simmons is able to escape, tossing the Studd right into Badd's face,
his boot striking his own partner's chin.
Big black Ron Simmons
flexes his huge muscles, threatening to destroy both of his opponents.
GRRRRR!!
Sting has been laying dazed
on the mat while his pal Ron Simmons fought both cheaters. Finally
Sting wakes up and tosses Studd out of the ring.
Sting looks like a wild animal,
with his face painted as he grits his teeth and whips Johnny B. Badd into
the corner.
Sting punishes Badd with both a whip into the buckles, and
with a really boring lecture on how wrestling is the true sport, and you're
supposed to care about the fans, and blah, blah, blah...
But Johnny is able to toss
muscular Sting over the ropes, leaving just the two brothers -- Badd and
Simmons -- in the ring to settle this Battle Royal.
Simmons is the Alpha Male in this fight as he boots the sissy
in the face, then drags him up by the arm for more punishment. I'm
sure the readers of this comic are already aching to see Issue #2 by this
point!
Johnny is whipped head-first into the
top turnbuckle, his body looking hot in that position.
A heckler in the front row, which later turns out to be Lex
Luger in disguise, distracts Simmons, so Badd is able to stun him with
a punch to the jaw.
Wow, Simmons is as strong as a gorilla,
pressing up the sexy body of Johnny B. Badd, his tight-ass speedo barely
covering his buttocks. KRRAK!! Simmons breaks his back across
one knee to with the match. Meanwhile, Lex Luger looks like a perverted
flasher as he peels off his over-coat to reveal his bare body underneath.
Luger leaps
into the ring and slams the trophy into the back of Simmons' head to knock
him out. Again, this comic book shows some of the best aspects of
good old-fashioned Rasslin': A blond muscle man in skimpy red gear,
illegal use of a foreign object, attacking another man from behind just
to humiliate him, etc. etc.
This comic book just keeps
getting better and better! The cartoonists at Marvel Comics must
have gotten some great input from the wrestlers and promoters at WCW when
writing this story! Luger brutally Pile-Drives the hero's skull into
the trophy, injuring Simmons' neck and smashing the trophy to pieces.
In case any of the slower readers haven't figured out that Luger
is an evil villain, he also rips up a check intended for charity while the
fans shower him with trash. The ruthless stud walks back to the locker
room, his muscles bulging as the fans continue to pelt him.
Issue #2 begins with a recap of Luger
jumping the winner of the Battle Royal by beaning him with the trophy.
This way, if anyone missed Issue #1 or already forgot what happened,
they will now be up to speed:
Luger = Bad Guy.
Simmons = Good Guy.
OK let's get it on!
What a cocky pose of domination
by this dirty cheater! I'm sure plenty of young readers are getting
excited by this hot comic book, and I'm sure each one thinks he is the only
person in the world aroused by these kinds of images.
Tonight
Luger gets in the ring with Sting, so he can generate more heat by beating
down the sexy surfer. The match begins with an angry Sting taking
control, cracking Luger over his knee and whipping him out of the ring.
Luger tries to leave
the match like a typical coward, but his nemesis Ron Simmons blocks his
path, forcing Luger to either get back in the ring with Sting or fight
Simmons in the aisle.
Luger is
dominated by the larger black wrestler, chopped in the side of the head,
which stuns him. Luger shouldn't have Pile-Drived this big stud's head
into a trophy!
Rather than destroy Luger himself,
Simmons dumps his muscular body in the ring so Sting can tear him up. Sting
pulls the champ to his feet by the hair.
Luger is whipped to the corner buckles,
where his head snaps back in agony. Sting prepares his famous splash
into the corner, but we see Luger pulling on the corner pad.
Here is another classic scene
from old school Pro Wrestling.... Luger pulls the padding off the steel
turnbuckle, creating a dangerous hazard for his clueless opponent.
Sure enough, Sting takes the bait. Luger
ducks out of the way, and Sting's handsome face crashes into the exposed
steel buckle! This is a disgrace!! What a great drawing, though.
Poor Sting is dazed and helpless. The
blond god easily pins him in this very sexy pose, gazing over at the fans
as he lays chest-to-chest on the submissive man. What a humiliating
loss for poor Sting. Can no one stop this cocky cheater, Lex Luger?!?
One of the announcers, Terrence,
is a "heel announcer," meaning he degrades and insults the good guys, and
supports the dirty moves of the bad guys. This is another tactic
to get the readers of the comic book all hot and bothered.
In Issue #3, big Ron Simmons
finally gets a rematch with Luger, even though his neck hasn't healed from
the Pile Driver on the trophy. Simmons is angry, starting out with
a big-bicep Sleeper on the champ's neck, followed by a very sexy Torture
Rack, using Luger's own hold against him.
Simmons tosses Luger over the ropes and
onto the floor. This may be a mistake as we see some villains at ringside
slipping Luger a pair of brass knuckles.
Muscular Simmons drags Luger back
in the ring by the hair. Luger then strikes the ref with those brass
knux, knocking him out cold!
The heel announcer continues
to support Luger's dirty tactics, as Simmons grabs the ass of his trunks
and raises him into a nice Vertical Suplex position, his muscular body on
display for the fans.
CRUNCH!! Luger crashes
onto the mat and the stud covers him chest to chest, but the ref is still
out cold!! Come on, wake up ref! This is his chance to take revenge
on the arrogant cheater!
As Simmons tries to wake up the ref,
Luger strikes him in the back of the skull, which stuns him. I'm sure
the readers of this comic book are at the edge by now!
Check out the brutality, as Luger
tries to strangle the good guy on the ropes! Clearly someone who knows
all about the hot and dirty aspects of Pro Wrestling had input into this
comic book!
Now Luger lays across Simmons'
muscular body, even though the ref is still dazed. I don't think Luger
is trying to pin Simmons, he just wants to show his domination and control
over the big buck.
Fans of the dreaded Pile Driver
are going to love the rest of this match! Luger tries to snap his
opponent's injured neck with a deadly Pile Driver, then he tries for another
pin, but Simmons kicks out.
CRACK!! Luger whips his opponent's head into
the corner buckles, leaving the black hunk sprawled on the mat, cringing
in pain. This artist is doing an awesome job showing the agony and
suffering in Wrestling.
Again Luger lays on the victim in a dominant position, but brave
Simmons shows his "intestinal fortitude" by kicking out.
Suddenly Simmons tries for a quick pin,
hooking one of Luger's legs. But that mysterious figure at ringside,
pushes him off, so Luger rolls him up for a pin.
Oh no, please not again!! Luger
delivers a second Pile Driver, then picks poor Simmons up again for a third
Pile Driver. This repeated punishment to his neck, using this same deadly
hold over and over, is definitely going to drive the readers of this comic
book completely wild.
The readers see a close-up of Simmons' head,
trapped between Luger's thighs, striking the mat to further injure his neck.
The fans are outraged
as their muscular hero lies twitching and beaten at Luger's feet. Apparently
this comic book has no problem showing the heroes repeatedly humiliated and
beaten by the cheating villain!
Luger is declared the winner, showing
off his amazing body while the angry fans pelt him with rocks and garbage.
The announcers argue over whether this is a horrible travesty, or whether
Luger ought to Pile Drive Simmons again. Either way, I'm sure the readers
are looking forward to Issue #4 of this series at this point!
