Shaking In Your Boots

It's customary for pro wrestlers to strike a pose while shaking hands like friends, before and/or after a match.  This is a sign of respect, but some dirty guys use it as a sneak attack against the opponent.

Verne Gagne has offered his hand as a sign of peace with his opponents.  However, the arrogant blonds have refused to accept his hand to demonstrate their hatred and disrepect for him.  Poses like this really tell the fans a lot about the attitude of the wrestlers!
Will this massive brawler -- Klondyke Bill -- accept the outstretched hand of his cute young opponent?  Will he attack the young man while shaking his hand?  The fans are at the edge of their seats waiting to see the beast's reaction to the rookie's peace offering.

In Japan, where honoring your superior is very important, the hand-shake is taken very seriously as a sign of respect between wrestlers.  Inouki looks dashing as he shakes the hand of this beefy American in skin-tight trunks.

Here are two handsome young Japanese wrestlers, showing respect by willingly offering their hands to the opponents. You almost wish these cute punks would now get booted right in their bellies for being so damn friendly!

The American rookie knows he is about to receive a painful beating from the muscular Japanese champion.  He obediently shakes the stronger man's hand with both of his hands, begging for mercy during the match.
The fans scream at this kid not to shake hands with his nasty opponent.  "No!!   NOOOOO!!!"  They've seen this cheater trick his young opponents before when he caught them in a hand-shake.

Bob Backlund is very cautions about taking Bob Orton's hand, because he knows Orton is a devious cheater.  Orton places his other hand over his heart, promising not to take advantage of the gullible rookie.

This rookie is nervous about shaking hands with Chick Donovan, the built blond in the tight-ass trunks.  Finally he agrees out of respect for his opponent. Sure enough, Donovan whips him to the mat and drops a leg on his arm.  The poor rookie whimpers and rubs his sore bicep as he learns a painful lesson!

The British rookie in the red speedo looks to the fans for advice because he isn't sure if it's safe to shake hands with the brute in the singlet.  Ignoring the advice of the screaming fans, the rookie receives a stunning elbow from the nasty cheater, and winds up dazed on the mat. What a fool, why didn't he listen to the wise fans??
At first, this beefy jobber won't shake Jacques Rougeau's hand because the fans are shouting at him to smarten up.  Finally, the stooge agrees to shake hands, so Jacques bitch-slaps the idiot across the face.  That will teach this stupid rookie to trust a Canadian!

Here is a soft-bellied jobber in white trunks, very cautious about joining hands with the beefy opponent.  Since he is a nice guy, he finally submits to the larger man's repeated efforts to shake his hand.

OOOFFF!!   He receives a boot to the gut that might bring his lunch back up, proof that nice guys finish last.  Why are these rookies so gullible that they allow themselves to be tricked so easily??
Trent Knight was a jobber for years, so he knows better than to trust Ken Shamrock.  The hairy-chested jobber wisely stands far away for the hand-shake.  Now if he could only learn how to win a match!

When the wrestlers are of equal fame and strength, they often shake hands like gentlemen.  Rude willingly joins hands with Tom Zenk and shows him some respect.

Check out Steamboat's ripped physique as he takes big Davey Boy's hand.  Davey Boy shakes hands like a politician, covering Steamboat's hand with his free hand.

In Ring of Honor, one of the "Rules of Honor" is that the wrestlers must shake hands before and after a match, and no shenanigans either!  James Gibson, sporting the Camel Toe, obediently joins hands with Spanky before grappling with him.

At first, Jimmy Jacobs refuses to shake Spanky's hand, and the fans howl in anger because this violates one of the sacred "Rules of Honor."  Finally he submits to the hand-shake so the rabid fans don't start a riot.

Matt Stryker, in his trade-mark green bikini briefs, didn't really want to shake hands with cocky Alex Shelley, but he had to if he ever wants to wrestle in Ring of Honor again..

Even during the hand-shake, they refuse to respect each other.  Stryker flashes his fingers in Shelley's face, and Shelley flips him off.

Here is how you are supposed to shake hands, like a gentleman.  Stryker firmly clasps his opponent's hand and holds it for several seconds while staring deeply and respectfully into his eyes. The fans love seeing proper respect like this, and they clap in appreciation.
Now Stryker is sporting a very tight blue speedo as he respectfully congratulates the Phonomenal A.J. Styles on another amazing match.  I think Stryker designs those hot trunks himself. If you want to look like a pro wrestling stud, you can order your own pair at MattStryker.com.

Wow, Paul London is looking massive, his muscles bulging as he shakes hands with the Phenomenal A.J. Styles.  Styles can sure fill out a pair of wrestling trunks!

Check out the beefy bearded guy, with the strings hanging out of the front of his trunks.  He gives Jimmy Rave a cocky, threatening look as he shakes the taller man's hand.  I think Rave needs to beat some respect into this rookie!

Nigel McGuinness, the cocky Brit with the spiked hair, never seems to respect his opponents!  Even when shaking this hunk's hand, Nigel gives him a pouty, rude expression.  This is outrageous!  I hope he injures this arrogant Brit just for shaking hands like that!
Austin Aries just wrestled an amazing match against CM Punk.  Punk shows his appreciation by offering Aries a respectful shake while the fans cheer.

CM Punk and Roderick Strong are carrying on a long conversation even though neither one is speaking.  Punk has a deadly look on his face while Strong responds with a cocky grin.  The ref tries to break up their intense little staring contest so the fans can see some wrestling.

This cute kid with the mutton-chop side burns is cautious about shaking hands with the larger dude in the blue trunks.  The rookie has seen too many cute young guys on TV wrestling get destroyed when they fell for the old hand-shake.

I believe both of these wrestlers have their fingers crossed behind their backs.  That must mean they don't take the hand-shake seriously and they both intend to try to hurt the other man.
Ricky Landell, the blond in the white trunks, uses all the gimmicks from old-school wrestling, including the hand-shake to show his regret after clocking the opponent brutally in the back of the head.

Matt Striker moves in closer to the kid with "Scotty" written on his tights.  I think he's using the hand-shake just to pull the muscular kid closer so he can get a hug.

The blue team shows class by offering their opponents a hand in friendship.  The cocky dudes in red gear refuse to shake hands, totally disrespecting their gallant opponents!
Tyler Black has just won the championship belt in a rough match against Josh Abercrombie, who is catching his breath outside the ring.

Tyler kneels down before his opponent and offers a hand-shake to show his appreciation.  The dudes at ringside wait patiently for Abercrombie to return the hand-shake.

At last, Josh returns Tyler's hand-shake and shows that he has no hard feelings over losing the belt.  What a nice show of sportsmanship for the guys at ringside to witness.

Out of nowhere, Abercrombie spits directly in his opponent's face, showing how he really feels about this loss.  What a disgusting act of crudeness by the sore loser!
