Posers

Pro Wrestlers have always created publicity photos, where they strip down to their wrestling gear and strike a pose for the fans to check out their bodies.  This is how the federations but their prize beef on display, such as this brawny lad in the traditional trunks and boots.

Here is a photo of a cute rookie perched on the back of a chair with one boot up in a sexy pose.  He clenches his fists to try to pump up his muscles for the photo, since he knows bigger muscles means more fans.
Bob Ellis knew that many fans are turned on by the cowboy look, so he posed in tall boots and a thick belt.  Many wrestlers adopted the "Cowboy" image when they realized how much the fans love it.

Let's zoom in for a closer look at the unusual Championship belt wrapped around the Cowboy's waist.  Verrrrrry interesting....

Bill Watts was another stud who excited the fans with his Cowboy persona.  Here he poses in boots, a hat, and black briefs.  The caption says..

"He can beat his opponent with holds from his extensive collection, or get just as rough as the next man... His pet hold is called the Oklahoma Stampede and it wins the big ones for him."

Here is a more modern Cowboy, looking butch in his leather vest, chaps, and black hat.  A publicity photo allows the wrestler to tell the fans about his attitude and personality.  In this case, we can tell this tuff-guy is a sadistic rough-houser who likes to hurt other men.
Wow great body on this ripped hunk, flexing his midsection for this hot pose.  He prefers the "Tarzan the Savage" gimmick, wearing leopard print for his intense publicity shot.

Jimmy Snuka was another muscular savage who wrestled as the powerful brute with more brawn than brains, able to hurt normal white men with his beastly power.  You can pretty much tell that from the huge muscles, animal print speedo, and pose of an animal ready to pounce.

Here is a hairy chested blond putting his furry body on display for his fans to enjoy.  He seems to be wearing bikini underwear instead of wrestling trunks, which is a great way to get more fans to like you!

Back in the Golden Age of wrestling, the men would allow thick carpets of hair to cover their chests, which they displayed with pride.  A thick patch of chest hair was a mark of power and masculinity, and the fans liked to see pictures of it, unlike today when most wrestlers are hairless pretty-boys.

In the early days of his career, big Paul Orndorff allowed his chest hair to grow all over his hard body like an unmowed lawn.  He even wore a shiny medallion to draw the viewer's eyes down to the man-fur covering his pecs.

Michael Hayes was one of the last sexy real-men who was proud of his carpet of fur.  He even pulls up his shirt to reveal his chest in this very suggestive pose, to allow the fans to see his hairy body.

Hairy-chested Tully Blanchard clenches his hands into tight fists for his publicity shot, to communicate to the fans that he is looking to brawl and beat up his opponents.  He is clearly not trying to be a cute baby-face in the ring.
Jeff Jarrett, on the other hand, is lean, smooth, and cute, with blond hair pouring down to his shoulders in waves.  His friendly smile confirms that will take painful beatings in the ring between his flashy high-flying moves.

Ron Garvin, one of my favorites from the 1980's, was a no-nonsense brawler who would get rough in the ring if he needed to.  You can tell that just from his tough pose with his fists clenched.
One advantage the smooth wrestlers have is they can coat their body with oil to make their muscles glisten and appear larger.  This kid either just stepped out of the shower, or he's used a whole bottle of baby oil on that impressive physique.

Here is a quiz for all you smart fans:  Is this wrestler..

(a) a cruel bad-ass who enjoys punishing his opponents with brawling and dirty tactics

 -- or --

(b) a handsome good-guy who obeys all the rules, wrestles scientifically, and tends to suffer during his matches.

If you answered "(b)" then you understand how the publicity photo can speak volumes about a wrestler's style before he even steps into the ring.

The young high-flying pretty-boys like Rick Martel and Ricky Rice tend to give the fans a bright white smile, their hands on their hips to show they are ready to wrestle but not too cocky or aggressive.  Back then, a little chest hair on the cute rookie was an added plus.

Here is a nice photo of a shirtless stud in white trunks, bending his body to prepare to grapple some lucky opponent.

Al Perez must think he's some kind of model, or perhaps the "Think" statue.  The "Latin Heart-throb" flashes us a knowing grin, as if to say "Go ahead, I know you're checking out my manly body, and I like it!"
Ouch, just take a long look at the freakish muscles bursting out all over Ivan Putski's body!  He looks like an over-inflated balloon ready to burst!

Plenty of wrestling fans get off on the powerful bodies of the wrestlers.  The promoters feed the fans' desires with plenty of hot muscle poses like this one by Putski!

Eric Priest calls himself "The Underwear Model" because he has that chiseled body, hot enough to be a model and perfectly proportioned.  Also he likes to wear boxer-briefs into the ring.

This incredible hunk uses a Baywatch Life Guard gimmick, as he shows off that hard body in a pair of red speedos.  He wears a white cross symbol on his package to draw attention to it.
Roderick Strong is one of my personal favorites from the new batch of young wrestlers making their way up the ranks.  You should see him in action in Ring of Honor videos. He isn't the most muscular of wrestlers, but that thick body and cute face has "stud" written all over it.

Jimmy Rave is another young star with not the largest muscles, but with mad skills in the ring.  Can you tell from his publicity photo that he is a spoiled bad-boy who likes to cheat to win?

Clearly, handsome Scotty Mac isn't afraid to get rough and bloody in the ring to protect his belt.  In fact, he is proud of the Crimson Mask he is wearing, posing for publicity photos with blood running down his face.

Here is a young stud who is proud of the ripped body he has created.  He coated his torso with body oil so every muscle will stand out as the light reflects off his chiseled frame.

Check out the little river flowing down the valley between this stud's six-pack abs.  Either he applied too much oil, or he is beginning to sweat from the exertion of his posing.

Rene Dupre is the typical modern WWE wrestler, with his perfect body, ripped stomach, and shiny pleather trunks with a big bulge in front. He wears a cocky sneer on his face to let fans know that he thinks he is better than everyone else.

Chris Masters has to have about the most perfect body ever seen in the wrestling ring, truly a "Masterpiece."  You can tell from his cocky little smile that he knows how hot he really looks.
