One of the greatest heels
of all time had to be "Mad Dog" Buzz Sawyer. He spent most of his
career in the Southern territories beating up on cute jobbers, which the
Southern rasslin' fans seem to love.
Wow, what a body! Sawyer clearly knows how to send out those arrogant
Alpha-Male vibes just through his cocky pose.
Before he began the wild,
loose-cannon "Mad Dog" gimmick, Sawyer played a ripped, arrogant body-builder.
Here he is looking rock-solid, flexing his muscles to show off for
the fans.

In the early 1980's studio
wrestling days down in Georgia, the wrestlers would often give a short
interview, then walk right over to the ring, jump in, and start rassling.
It was kind of quaint.
This was back in 1981, when
Buzz was only 22 years old. He's giving one of those cocky "I'm
the best wrestler in the world, and the sexiest man alive" interviews.
This usually got the fans all worked up so they'd be even more excited
during the match.
Although he was young and
didn't have his lunatic bad-ass persona, Sawyer did ooze a ton of charisma
and plenty of sexy star power that I'm sure everyone noticed. The fans
sure loved to hate this arrogant bastard.
Sawyer's cute opponent in
the powder blue trunks is "Mike Davis" who would also enjoy a long career
and numerous gimmicks, mostly as a heel. Right now Davis is playing
the eager but oh so naive young jobber. Buzz offers the pathetic rookie
a hand-shake, then pulls it away, leaving the poor stooge hanging. What
a tool!
Next Buzz forces Davis against
the ropes, his tight blue trunks pressing on the middle rope. Davis
is clearly intimidated by his thick, muscular opponent, respecting his
huge arms and obediently waiting for Sawyer to back away.
But this cute Mike Davis may
be more than just a pretty face! He secures a Wrist Lock, and the
fans cheer when they see the arrogant body-builder forced into a submissive
kneeling position.
"OH GOD, MY ARM!!"
Sawyer sells the agony, twisting around in great pain to demonstrate
that Mike Davis is a tough stud after all. Meanwhile, all eyes are
on the baby-face's baby blue trunks as he bounces around, grinding the
hold.
The shirtless men continue
to struggle against each other for the fans' enjoyment. Davis whips
Sawyer to the mat and continues to grind and twist on his thick tree-trunk
arm.
The camera-man seems to enjoy
filming Mike's body, or maybe it's his bulging blue speedo. The camera
zooms in for an extreme close-up of the hold, and it's not like an Arm-Bar
is the most interesting hold to zoom in on.
We know that Buzz Sawyer is
one of the greatest heels of all time, but he is also very talented at
suffering like a jobber. Check out how he uses his whole body to
demonstrate the agonizing pain that Davis is inflicting on him.
The Arm Bar continues for
several minutes, so the fans can savor Buzz struggling to escape and take
a long hard look at Davis calmly in control. Now-a-days we would have
seen 5 flying kicks, 4 pin attempts, 3 giant leaps off the top rope, 2 battles
that spilled into the audience, and at least 1 flippity-doo in this same
time span.
Again Sawyer is thrown to
the mat, and again the camera zooms in on Mike Davis slowly working the hold
in his bulging trunks. Maybe it's the zoom lense on the camera, but
it almost looks like the bulge is growing.
Finally Buzz decides that
it's time to give the fans what they're really itching to see, the destruction
of handsome Mike Davis. He grips the stud's face and works his fingers
into those golden locks.
Sawyer drags Davis around
the ring by the hair, then claws his eyes to escape the hold. He's
trying to blind the other man!
The ref warns the big man
in the black speedo to stop the hair pulling, but you might as well warn
a grizzly bear to stop eating red meat.
A vicious Forearm Smash leaves
Mike Davis flat on his back like he was hit by a rocket-powered train
running down-hill on ice with a tail-wind. The announcers calling
the match are stunned by Buzz Sawyer's power and brutality.
With stars in his eyes, our
handsome hero lies helpless on the canvas, staring up with respect at
the big man who is about to beat him into submission.
Watching Sawyer wrestle, you
could see that he took a lot of pleasure from his work. He savored
the physical contact, the domination, the display of strength, and he
really owned his jobbers. He yanks Davis up by the hair with a smie.
Now that he's firmly in control,
Buzz throws in some more dirty tactics to really excite the frustrated
crowd. He bounces the jobber's throat up and down on the top rope.
The ref again informs Buzz
that he ought to obey the rules. But like all great heels, Buzz is
eager to keep on cheating, and the fans are eager to witness his dirty deeds.
Again Sawyer grips a handful
of hair to yank his opponent off the ropes. He seems obsessed with
grabbing and pulling that hair, maybe because he is jealous of Mike Davis's
thick golden locks.
Buzz puts the victim's lean
physique (and his powder blue briefs) on display for the fans by stretching
him, holding him for a few seconds, then driving a Forearm into his ribcage.
Mikie collapses to the mat,
a beaten man. Trying to clear the cobwebs in his brain, he shakes
his long wavey hair around, which is like shaking a red blanket in fromt
of a bull.
Again Buzz roughly grips his
face and hair, dragging him over to the ropes for more abuse.
Here Buzz uses a cruel hold
that he would repeat often during his career. He sits on the victim's
neck and bounces in the ropes, riding the man's head like a Hippity-Hop.
Gripping the ropes for leverage,
he continues to buck and bounce on the victim's neck.

Sawyer again pulls the pretty-boy
off the ropes by his amber waves of hair. This muscle-man is like
a dog with a bone!
CRASH!! The fans love
to see the really cute wrestlers thrown out to the floor, and Sawyer doesn't
disappoint. He tosses the pretty-boy out of the ring like a sack of
garbage.
Davis slowly peels himself
off the cold dirty floor, giving the fans plenty of time to check him out
in his tight trunks. He crawls back to the ring like an obedient dog
that knows it's about to be swatted with the newspaper.
Sawyer gives the fans on the
right side of the ring a treat, stretching out the pretty-boy over the top
rope and beating him like a Pinata on a Mexican kid's birthday.
Again Davis crashes to the
hard floor and the fans watch him roll around at their feet. He is
willing to rassle, but Buzz Sawyer owns the ring and won't let him back in!
Finally Sawyer allows his boy-toy
to crawl inside the ropes. The camera is doing a great job capturing
close-up shots of the agony and frustration on this stud's face.
Sawyer mounts the helpless
man and grips his chin in a Camel Clutch hold. Check out their awesome,
intense expressions as one man punishes the other without mercy. GRRRR.
Give this camera-man an award
or something! We can almost see the tears dripping down his face as
Davis suffers the effects of this painful hold.
Releasing the chin, Sawyer
begins cranking the head back with two handfuls of -- you guessed it --
his thick blond hair.
Wow, Sawyer stands in domination
over his submissive opponent. He looks like a gladiator preparing
to slaughter his dis-armed foe as the crowd howls with bloodlust.
The stud in black holds him
steady by the hair, then jacks him in the face. Buzz Sawyer may be
a rookie in this match, but he has already learned how to totally own his
jobber-boy.
Sawyer slowly pulls his head
back by the hair so he can get a nice tight grip around the other man's
throat.
Sawyer could easily pin this
wimp, but instead he cranks on a punishing Headlock, flexing his muscles
and demonstrating his strength for the fans.
I think this sadistic freak
may be into "breath control." He seems to be pinching his victim's
nose to restrict his oxygen flow. Weird.
A leg-drop across the throat
leaves the victim sprawled out like a rag-doll. He is totally helpless
at Buzz Sawyer's mercy!
Sawyer slowly covers his man
chest-to-chest in an intimate embrace.
Somehow the stud in the blue speedo and
white boots finds the strength to kick out at the count of two.
Davis is just prolonging his
torture by kicking out of the pinfall. Sawyer sure doesn't mind inflicting
more hair-pulling holds on the brave young hero.
Mike Davis is the sort of guy
you'd want living next door: quiet, polite, looks great in a swimsuit.
Buzz Sawyer is the sort of guy you'd like to go slam beers with, especially
if a fight breaks out.
Buzz shows us that his big
muscles are not just for show. He breaks Davis across his knee a few
times, then hoists him over-head and drives his spine into the mat. Ouch!
TIM-BERRRR! Sawyer
falls on his opponent like a tree falling over, slamming his elbow into
the stud's neck. Why do the fans crave seeing hot guys like Mike Davis
in pain??
Sawyer lays across the man's
chest like he's reclining on a pillow. That is so cocky! The ref counts
to three and the bell rings, but the heel continues to lay on his victim
for a few extra seconds.
Sawyer slowly rises to his
feet, pressing on Davis's face to show that he totally owns this punk. Is
that final act of humiliation really necessary?
The fans are all hoping to
see much more of these two hot wrestlers, and they get their wish. Both
Buzz Sawyer and Mike Davis went on to have long careers with thousands of
red-hot matches.
Wow, Buzz looks powerful with
his huge arms and thick physique busting out of that tight black speedo.
