Tom Zenk vs Brian Pillman

Tom Zenk and "Flyin'" Brian Pillman were hot, popular, and wearing the gold belts in 1992.  Definitely two of the most handsome and buff wrestlers back in the 90's.  So why did this amazing Tag Team split up after a short run?

Zenk watches as his ripped partner prepares to sail off the top rope onto an opponent.  Was it professional jealousy as all the Wrestling Magazines claimed -- or office politics -- that caused these two studs to go their separate ways?
Whoa, gorgeous smiles on these two models.  According to the Z-Man fan website...

1. Ted Turner was awarding expensive 2-year contracts to many young hunks

2.  This upset booker Ole Anderson, who never made big money and wanted to control the young talent

3.  Ole conspired to drive the young studs out, break up their popular tag teams, job them to fat older wrestlers, and promote his old pals

Holy Moly!  Brian rests a foot on the bottom rope (love that pose!) and yells encouragement to his hunky partner Tom Zenk.  Supposedly Ric Flair saw the heat these studs were drawing and wanted one to be the fourth Horseman.  Pillman, Flair's "friend", was much more eager to please.

Of course the old rasslin magazines claimed there was jealousy between the Alpha Male studs.  Brian was the hard worker who took the bumps and sustained the injuries, while Tom was also wrestling in singles competition to advance his personal career over the team.  Whatever.

Whoa, check out these pretty-boys, looking sweet all muscled up in their pink and white gear!

These two never wore matching gear like most teams, nor picked a flashy name like "The Super-Studs", or "Team Hottie."  So maybe they never wanted to be a team and never meant to stay together long.
They had a bitter break-up, almost like a messy divorce, which seemed to imply they were more than just business partners. When emotions and pride get involved, it usually means  there was passion.

After separating, they decided to settle their differences, and determine who was the Better Man, at WrestleWar '92.  Zenk, looking sinewy and buff, must have pumped his muscles for this match, and didn't skimp on the body oil.

Pillman, the defending Light Heavyweight Champ, is actually the smaller man and the under-dog in this match.  He came to the ring wearing a beautiful black and white leather ring jacket which just screams "Hurt Me!"

Tempers are flaring between the former partners.  Zenk makes some rude comment to wipe that grin off Pillman's cute face.  The Champ looks about ready to cry as he peels off his jacket.

Some fan holds up a sign claiming "Z-Man is the Champ", but actually Pillman holds the Light Heavyweight strap.

Damn nice body on Zenk, as always.  He seems to be sneaking a look at Pillman's rock-hard physique as they size each other up.

While shaking hands, it's Pillman's turn to throw an insult in his former partner's face.  Maybe something like: "Have fun becoming a jobber, while watching my career take off as the Fourth Horseman."

Tale of the Tape:

Brian Pillman, 29, 5'10", 200 lbs.

Tom Zenk, 33, 6'1", 240 lbs.

Zenk is leading in experience, strength, height, and weight.

They open by trading some Baby-Face arm-bars, showing the fans that they both wrestle with almost identical styles.

I think Pillman played football for the Cincinnati Bengals, so he loved to sport those tiger striped briefs.  Damn, he could make Tarzan jealous in those things!

Pillman presses into a hand-stand, then slams his knee into Z-Man's trapped arm.  Yes, they are out to hurt each other now!

Zenk wore a black speedo to show the fans he means business tonight, while Pillman wore those jaw-dropping trade-mark Bengal Tiger briefs.

Flat on his back, Zenk suffers a Knee Drop from his former partner.  Ouch!  Then Pillman stands over the larger man in a very cocky pose of domination.

Still on his knees, Zenk sells Pillman as the stronger man.  Wow, I forgot how awesome Pillman looked in that too-tight speedo.

As Pillman secures a flexing Headlock, Zenk feels up his lower back and washboard abdomen.  They can't seem to keep their hands off each other.

They switch places, and Brian becomes the stud in agony, while Tom takes over the dominant role, working the Hammer Lock.
Throwing friendship out the window, Zenk makes his former partner howl in pain.  Brian's handsome face is contorted by pure pain.

How many times have you watched a hot Tag Team and just wished they'd face off against each other?  Well, many wrestling fans saw their wishes come true in this match!

Zenk twists Pillman in knots, puttling his chiseled body and tight speedo on display for the fans at home.  Wow, this is too perfect, like a living work of art more than a wrestling match!

Pillman suffers in the relentless Arm Bar.  He knows that wearing animal print makes any wrestler look just a bit more savage and sexier.

Zenk is feeling his oats now, smiling and strutting around the ring, playing the perfect cocky Heel in command.

Whoa!  Clearly Zenk's been drinking his protein shakes!  The Z-Man loves showing off his body, and the camera loves the Z-Man.  MMMMMM.

After brutally kicking his former partner like a rented mule, Zenk walks slowly toward the camera shaking his hips.  You can almost smell the testosterone in this stud.

Meanwhile, the beaten hottie lies helpless at his former partner's feet.  Clearly Zenk is the stronger man, the true Alpha Male of their team.

Come on, Flyin' Brian!  Get up and wrestle!  No, better yet, just lay there and let the Z-Man tear you limb from limb like the jobber you always were.

Zenk lays on top for a little sugar.  Come on Brian, kick out!

Thanks to the support of his fans, the fair-haired jungle boy kicks out and rises rise to the occasion, determined to fight back.

Now it's Brian's turn to calmly apply some arm torture, while his former Best Friend Forever slaps the mat in agony and frustration.

Damn, I miss Flyin' Brian.  The camera zooms in close to capture every drop of sweat running down his handsome face.

With an intense look on his face, Brian increases the pressure, teaching his former partner who is the master.
Pillman next applies an incredible Head Scissors, which is probably one of the hottest Head Scissors seen during the 1990's.

Locked between his strong thighs, Zenk glowers in agony, tamed by his former partner's legs.

Pillman meanwhile reclines on one elbow.  He looks content to lay there all night flexing and relaxing his legs, slowly milking the energy out of Tom Zenk.

I wonder if this is the first time these former partners ever worked on this hold.  I wonder if they ever practiced the Scissors in their hotel while travelling around the country.

The camera captures the look of pleasure on Pillman's face as he crushes his former partner between his legs, listening to Zenk groan in pain.

Zenk is growing limp, unable to breathe between those thick thighs.  Pillman has no intention of unlocking those tall white boots.
WCW "Wrestle War" was a poor man's version of "WrestleMania."  But I don't recall "Wrestle Mania" ever offering the fans hot, punishing, long holds like this great Scissor!

Gritting his teeth, Flyin' Brian tightens his grip.  He's smothering Zenk like a boa constrictor, you gotta love it!

Pillman is relentless with his scissor, crushing all the fight out of his hunky opponent in the black speedo.
Looking like Tarzan in his tiger trunks, Brian focuses his attack on the Z-Man's leg, trying to ground the high-flyer by taking out one point of balance.

The leg torture continues as Flyin' Brian twists Zenk's knee, then locks on one of those cool Grapevine holds.

An ass-to-ass Boston Crab has Zenk pounding the mat, begging for mercy from a ruthless Brian Pillman.

Zenk's leg can't take much more abuse.  He tries to press out but the smaller man is too powerful.

Falling back, Brian snaps the helpless man's leg out of the socket.  These hunks look great in their matching white boots!

Oh yes!  Pillman slaps on the Figure 4 Leglock (love that!).  This is like the fifth awesome long-held hold he has applied on Tom Zenk!

Pillman has been punishing the left leg, but now he applies the Figure 4 on the right leg.  The announcers are quick to point out that he is also applying downward pressure to that left ankle, so I guess he's still attacking the left leg too.

Zenk does his job well, flopping around like he's having a seizure and moaning in agony while struggling to escape.  Pillman scowls like a rabid dog and maintains the knee-snapping pressure.

With the last of his strength, Zenk twists to roll over and reverse the pressure.  Which stud will win this test of strength??

Zenk uses his superior muscle and size to roll over his smaller opponent.  Take your time boys, we could stare at this all day long...

He's done it!  Using his super- human lower body, Tom Zenk has reversed the Figure 4.

The ref better get in there and untie that knot of legs before one or both of these studs gets hurt!  Check out the flexing muscles in those entangled legs -- This isn't wrestling, this is heaven!

Both men grip the bottom rope for dear life and the ref hurries over to untangle their legs.

Clearly Pillman's leg was damaged by that Leg Knot.  He looks about ready to cry as he massages his muscles.

Zenk is hurting too as he crouches in the corner trying to recover from Brian's punishment.

The battle rages on as Pillman chokes and punches Tommy's face.  Their anger and passion is boiling over!

Now Pillman tries to crucify and pin Zenk, but Zenk kicks out and jumps to his feet.

Again Zenk drives a boot into his former partner's spine, as if he doesn't care if he injures this stud.
This cocky animal is actually celebrating, proud of what he's done to the smaller man!  Clearly Zenk needs an attitude adjustment!

As Pillman struggles to his feet, Zenk scales the corner buckles as quick as  a cat.  Oh no!  He's about to level the dizzy stud with his deadly Drop Kick!

Knowing all his former partner's moves, Pillman easily blocks the Flying Drop Kick, knocking Zenk out of the air like he's swatting a fly.
Before the Z-Man can recover, Brian grabs his thighs, flips over, and slaps on a very interesting Bridge Pin.

The fans get to check out both wrestlers from some very unusual positions as the ref counts to Three and Pillman is the winner.

His arms raised in victory, the stud celebrates his win over the larger man.  The fans go wild as Pillman flexes for them.

DAYUM!   Is that belt actually the Championship of Tight, Lean, Hard Bodies!?  Cuz Pillman is definitely the champ of looking ripped.

Let's enjoy these shots of Pillman as a handsome, All American clean-cut hero.  Soon after this, he became a freaky "loose cannon" and got into some heavy stuff that wasn't as exciting.

Geez, he is gorgeous.  He looks like He-Man or the Beast Master with those muscles and that mane of hair.  Gotta love old Flyin Brian matches!
